About AX Fitness

AX Fitness is a creative cross-training gym based in Minneapolis specializing in adult group fitness classes and athletic team training.

We believe in functional and sustainable fitness. We operate in a fundamental and organic environment where you will not find elaborate weight machines or cardio equipment. We have a traditional, athletic, grassroots approach to training. We believe that fitness is a lifestyle not just a gym. AX Fitness exists because of our dedicated members. Our clients believe that this program provides them with a level of fitness that nothing else can. Our dedicated members have developed a supportive, fun, and hard-working community.

Christine Jaques developed the AX Fitness program in 2011 when she was an adult fitness trainer at Acceleration Minnesota Sports Training Center in Arden Hills, MN. In late 2013, Christine opened her own studio and moved AX Fitness to Southeast Minneapolis. Christine designed AX to offer a total body workout that increases functional strength, cardio capacity, muscular endurance, and metabolic rate. Our training utilizes MAX interval training by creatively implementing a variety of body weight and bootcamp style exercises. Workouts change each week so that your body doesn't plateau and you continue to see and feel results.

Job requirements

Must be enthusiastic, energetic, personable, coachable, and driven. Must be passionate about health and fitness. Certification through a nationally recognized organization and/or a degree in a related field is required.

Job description

  • Communicate effectively with clients and observe, instruct, and motivate them to reach their fitness goals.

  • Build strong relationships with clients. Respect our clients, guests, and other associates.

  • Demonstrate a sincere interest in helping our clients succeed.

  • Be a team player, providing support to others, as needed.

  • College degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or related field is a plus.

  • Understand, adapt, and apply AX Fitness training methods and goals.

  • Knowledge about nutrition and healthy eating habits.

  • Maintain cleanliness of facility and complete regularly scheduled cleaning duties.

  • Responsible for morning classes: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Sub for weekday evening classes.

  • Personal Training opportunities available.


Determined by experience and educational background.

Job type

Part-time, contract employee.

  • 8-10hrs/week on average.

Fitness Industry: 1 year

Required license or certification

Personal Trainer and/or Group Fitness
CPR/First Aid Certification
