We have a traditional, athletic, grassroots approach to training. We believe that fitness is a lifestyle not just a gym. AX Fitness exists solely because of our dedicated members. Our clients believe that this program provides them with a level of fitness that nothing else can. Start-up costs were loaned or donated by our members. Our dedicated members have developed a supportive, fun, and hard-working community.
Christine Jaques developed the AX Fitness program in 2011 when she was an adult fitness trainer at Acceleration Minnesota Sports Training Center in Arden Hills, MN. In late 2013, Christine opened her own studio and moved AX Fitness to Southeast Minneapolis. Christine designed AX to offer a total body workout that increases functional strength, cardio capacity, muscular endurance, and metabolic rate. Our training utilizes MAX interval training by creatively implementing a variety of body weight and bootcamp style exercises. Workouts change each week so that your body doesn't plateau and you continue to see and feel results.
TRAINERS & STAFF
Christine is a certified personal trainer with a degree in recreation and sports management. Christine's training and motivational style has been developed through years of training herself, a few old school coaching techniques, and a bit of military training background. If you want to see serious results and have fun, Christine's unique programs can benefit your body in ways that you have never experienced before. With 18 years of sports management and fitness training, her expertise has improved the performance of hundreds of athletes in many different areas, including:
- Roller derby teams
- Hockey players
- Ultimate Frisbee teams
- Dance groups
- Soccer players
- Semi-pro football players
- Recreational sports leagues
- Children's sports teams and programs
- Cyclists, runners, and swimmers
- Firefighters, police officers, and military personnel
I have always been passionate about sports, fitness, and anything that challenges my body as well as my mind. Growing up in Minnesota, I played lots of sports, but my favorite was always hockey. I started playing when I was 5 years old out on the frozen ponds with my two siblings, and was fortunate enough to play all the way up to the Division 1 collegiate level. I played for the Mavericks at Minnesota State University Mankato for four years where I obtained my bachelors degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Sports Medicine. Fitness has always been a huge part of my life and I am always looking for new and challenging ways to test my strength and fitness level so I knew that a career in fitness was for me. I was lucky enough to begin that journey at AX Fitness. The first time I attended one of Christine's classes I knew that AX was the place for me. The AX community is like no other and I look forward to a long future training here.
Shannon is a certified kickboxing fitness instructor. She has been a member with AX since January 2014 and has been a trainer since October 2015, primarily teaching cardio box class. Shannon has been involved in athletics for a majority of her life; having played softball, fastpitch softball, and volleyball both recreational and competitively. Prior to coming to AX, Shannon took classes at a boxing gym in the North Metro, where she was taught and mastered the technical aspects of cardio kickboxing. If you have questions about technique or would like additional help in improving your Cardio Box workout, don't hesitate to ask! It's Shannon's goal to provide you with a well-rounded, energized, and full body cardio workout as she focuses most of her cardio box classes on circuit training to ensure that your body and mind are engaged and working hard.
